[Mt Fuji]

Oh we went to Mt Fuji, or more specifically the Fuji Go Ko (five lakes) region and it was so beautiful. Some of the arresting views reminded me of Queenstown in New Zealand (except for Fuji itself of course, which is an amazing spectacle all of its own) and it was so nice to stroll around mountaintops and shorelines. Lots of young people kept waving to us.

It's really easy to get there; one bus goes straight from Shinjuku station all the way to Kawaguchiko, and we stayed in and around that township the whole time. I have two reasons to return to the district: (1) to climb Mt Fuji, which will no doubt be hellish, and (2) to go to Fujikyu Highlands, a theme park with some seriously horrifying roller coasters.
