[Spitting in a wishing well]

The Breeders are great. I found their album Last Splash for 100 yen in my local bookstore. I've never heard it before, but it's one of those discs that I would have done well to have bought years ago.

[5am in Amsterdam]

Oh the dear and splendid cousin Lisa sent me a copy of Michelle Shocked's Texas Campfire Takes, and I am so very excited about it. Ms Shocked has re-released the original recording (for which she received no royalties) with an extra CD and a collection of her journal notes from the early to mid 80s.

I think I've categorised this wonderful disc in the same group as Blue, Pink Moon and The Covers Record, oh bring on the almost perfect Christmas day!!!

The ever-vigilant Chris has given me a copy of Cold House by Hood. It's everything I hoped the last Manitoba album would be, but wasn't. I dig it most thoroughly.

[Build]

Well I've bought my first CD since arriving in Japan... it was going to be the new (Smog) album, but at only 950 yen I couldn't go past Sonic Youth's A Thousand Leaves.

(Smog) will have to wait!
