[Music festival]

I really want to go to the Melbourne Livid, but tickets are almost $100. Then by the time you factor in food and drinks (and the inevitable surcharges), the day starts to look very expensive.

I would love to see Jurassic 5 and the White Stripes, and several of my friends are definitely going. In fact, some are coming over from Adelaide for the day. Deb is even looking into heading down from Sydney. But it's a little out of my price range, I fear.

Still, somebody will probably convince me to go.

[Plastic discs]

The other CD I got for free was If it was you by Tegan and Sara. It's all emerging artists 'round here.

And today I picked up Hoopla by Speech – yes I'm a huge fan of Arrested Development – but I haven't listened to it yet. No doubt it will slot nicely into my current hip hop phase. I love the Clocks in sync with mine single.

[Two]

Sometimes I take a step back and I think: "why shouldn't I have the things that I want?"

Therefore, yesterday I bought Manitoba's Up in flames and Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation. They are both excellent.

[More Canadian brilliance]

Thanks to Lisa I've been the lucky recipient of a few freebies, the best of which is Ron Sexsmith's terrific album Whereabouts. I've never listened to any of his stuff before, which is a shame because I absolutely love this album. It's instantaneously likeable. I love the track Right about now the most so far.

I also got the American Psycho soundtrack and another album which I cannot recall at the moment.

Also, I think I'm beginning a mild David Bowie obsession – Hunky Dory has occupied my CD player a lot lately!
