[KI]

I understand that Sonia will be booking accommodation on Kangaroo Island for the Christmas period. I have wanted to travel there for quite some time, and it seems ridiculous to have never been there despite the fact that it's close enough to be visible from parts of the coast (unless my parents were lying to me when they said the far off shadow was the coast of KI).

While I am excited by this prospect, the mind boggles as to why my first trip there has to be in the middle of Summer. I'm clinging to the hope that the island's southerly location will result in relatively cool days, but I have a niggling suspicion that the truth may be vastly different. Since we will be tenting for at least part of the trip, the weather is an all-important variable.

The other thing is that I hate feeling isolated. I grew up in Jamestown for goodness sake, and as if 17 years in the middle of South Australia's Mid North wasn't enough!

I tend to get depressed by places that don't have a decent coffee shop nearby at all times.
