[Grace]

The CD store in North Adelaide has done it to me again. So many titles, so cheap, so hard to choose. So I succumbed and bought Jeff Buckley's album Grace for just $10. A complete bargain for this classic album!

[Travel tunes]

My most recent musical selections have been governed by one thing – the size of the portable CD holder that I borrowed from Deb. Yes, over the last few weeks I've had just 13 disks to choose from. They were:

-Badly Drawn Boy - The Hour of Bewilderbeast
-The Paradise Motel - Flight Paths
-PJ Harvey - Stories from the city, stories from the sea
-The Best of Burt Bacharach
-U2 - The Joshua Tree
-Coldplay - Parachutes
-Noonday Underground - Self Assembly
-The Quiet Hours
-Cat Power - The Covers Record
-The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
-Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
-Groovy 4
-Groovy 6

I also bought two CDs in NZ, namely the self-titled Bentley Rhythm Ace album and also a compilation called Chill Out in Ibiza. I'd promised myself that I'd never buy an Ibiza compilation – so much for that. It is about 70% lame unfortunately.

[Clothes of sand]

Nick Drake made some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. River Man is definitely in my top 5 of all time. (U2's The Unforgettable Fire is number 1 by the way.)

What I find amazing about Nick Drake is that out of depression and melancholy arose such mesmerising and inspiring music. The story of his life and premature death is so tragic.
